Clinical Services

The Storey Homes Clinical Support Services is that of a “systemic process” in which children and their families become part of the team in the process of gaining knowledge and support in helping the individual in taking responsibility and control of their personal difficulties. The professional staff resource and referring agency as well as the community based team become facilitators within the process.

Goal setting and treatment will be developed within the regular reviews with both family, community team members and referring agency case workers. Where family exists and a possibility of continued growth exists we will be entering into shared parental partnership of which biological family assist in goal setting, growth and/or minimally a positive relationship.

Therapeutic counselling encompasses a holistic approach for each child through a variety of intervention techniques. Treatment goals focus on the resident and provide individual insight and support to the child, his/her family as well as the team. Treatment goals, expectations and individualized plans and course of action are identified in assisting the child, family and staff team. The staff team, within their daily routine, assist the treatment process through positive activities and interaction. Clients are encouraged to explore feelings and personal concerns with their individual therapist.

Storey Homes provides both individual and group therapy programs to children and adolescents admitted to the program. These services are provided through Quinte Counselling Services Inc. Quinte Counselling Services Inc. provides therapists to the program who are experienced in providing counselling services for children and adolescents, particularly children and adolescents who are in care and exhibiting difficulties managing feelings and behaviour, coping with past and present family related issues, and presenting with significant treatment issues.
