Group Therapy

Group therapy programs are available to children and adolescents admitted to Storey Homes when appropriate. Programs which focus on topics such as anger management, social skills development, and managing feelings and behaviour are provided approximately four times per year. The group programs are based on a cognitive-behavioural approach. Emphasis is placed on developing an environment that fosters the foundations of self-esteem. Treatment methods include self-assessment, instruction, modelling, role-playing, and play. The group therapy programs also focus on prevention. Group programs are generally time limited for eight to ten weeks. The programs are generally one hour in length and held weekly and conducted by a therapist and a co-facilitator.
